On 4 June 2019, the first "Cognitive Commerce" workshop took place at the Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Villingen-Schwenningen. The direction of the consortium, consisting of AI4BD Deutschland GmbH, Oxaion GmbH and the University of Paderborn, had organized this workshop. A wide range of different domains, e.g. from the industry, software sector, R&D but also from associations and research facilities had been invited.
After the opening of the workshop and the presentation of the participants, Mr. Dr. Günther Möchesch, CEO of AI4BD, opened the expretise part of the workshop with his lecture "How can small and medium-sized companies profit from AI?".
This was followed by professor Dr. Axel Ngonga’s (University of Paderborn) lecture "Overview of Machine Learning". Besides the definition and functionality of "Machine Learning", he also demonstrated some practical use cases and thus provided a very good basis for the presentation of Dr. Martin Voigt, CTO of AI4BD.
In the practical part of the workshop, various groups interactively created practical use cases and determined the potential oft he ecosystems thus generated. The discussion focused on the usage of new ways of contacting and activating customers and the creation of new data-driven/AI-driven products and services.
After the use cases had been presented by the groups, synergetic effects were discussed and found. At this point already, the benefit and the very high usability of a generic AI trade platform became clear and both revealed the benefit to and the need for the German industry and especially for the German small and medium-sized companies companies.
